I am trained as an independent celebrant but I am not a registrar. This means that I am not allowed to legally register you as married.

If you are opting for an independent celebration, all that is required from a legal perspective is that you and your partner register as married with two witnesses. You can do this in your jeans, then have exactly the sort of celebration that you really want!

Many people choose to do it the morning of their ceremony, others a week or two before the big day. As long as this happens prior to the ceremony this is fine. If you would rather not get married at all, you could think about having a handfasting, blessing or joining ceremony instead.

It's my job to make sure you have your ceremony exactly the way you want it. The all-in price includes an initial consultation in your home and a rehearsal at the venue as well as the delivery of the service.

I will write the ceremony for you and you will have the opportunity to feedback and edit until you are entirely happy with it. I enjoy working collaboratively, if you have some creative ideas of your own to include!

If you want to write your own vows or contributions to the ceremonies feel free, although I am happy to help you to craft these if you need a little inspiration. It can be hard work to distill all those feelings into a few paragraphs!

Optionally I can assist you with venue locations, add additional consultations if required and source items for use in rituals if you need them.

Testimonials

"Viv performed the ceremony for our wedding in September. My husband and I wanted a more personal, non-religious, non-denominational ceremony and Viv surpassed all our expectations. The effort Viv put in to get to know us,our family and our friends was incredible. By the time our wedding day came she had become a great friend and this made our day even more special. We can't recommend Heartfelt Ceremonies highly enough. Thank you for everything Viv!"

"On Weds my wife and I signed to convert our Civil Partnership to a marriage. We celebrated on Friday with an outdoor handfasting and four winds ceremony written and delivered by Viv Andrews. It was just perfect for us, Viv was amazing in the way she 'got us', we didn't need to change anything at all and she engaged our friends beautifully, creating a wonderful and spiritual celebration of our love and our relationship, (and a really funny Mrs & Mrs quiz the night before) it was just magical. Testament to Viv's wonderful creative ability. Thanks Viv "

We were absolutely delighted with the service Viv provided when we got married. She was professional, thorough and sensitive at all times. We had ample opportunity to meet in person and she made herself available via telephone and email when we had any queries. At every meeting she put us at ease, gave us tools/ideas to work out how we wanted the celebration to run and was great at making/letting us tailor the ceremony to our desires. One of Viv's greatest skills was allowing us to work out what we didn't want which clarified what we did want. Viv was great at making suggestions but wasn't at all pushy or precious if we decided those weren't right for us.

On the day she was cheerful, excited for us, beautifully turned out, spoke with confidence and clarity and put everyone at ease. The ceremony was perfectly paced, concise and relaxed and there wasn't a dry eye in the house by the end...even the tough guys shed a tear!  I would have no hesitation at all in recommending Viv to anyone thinking of using her as a celebrant - she was a star and the perfect person for the role.”
